The Rise of the Sun, the Fall of Time

The Edit Gallery presents the solo exhibition “The Rise of the Sun, the Fall of Time” by Cypriot visual artist Danae Patsalou. The exhibition explores the relationship between time, memory, and renewal through the parallel image of sunrise and archaeological discovery. Patsalou uses painting and drawing to explore moments of revelation, where what was previously invisible gradually becomes visible. The sunrise transforms the landscape, revealing forms that were immersed in darkness, while archaeological discovery brings objects and fragments from the past to light. The exhibition includes two sections of paintings. The first is inspired by the Ara Pacis in Rome, with the artist reinterpreting the intricate plant reliefs in rhythmic compositions. The second section captures the atmosphere of sunrise, when light reveals the surrounding space. Danae Patsalou is a graduate of Falmouth University and holds an MA in Arts and Cultural Management from King’s College London. She has presented her work in exhibitions in Cyprus, Italy and the United Kingdom. The exhibition will run until May 2, 2026.
