Tax Declaration Changes and Implementation Timeline in Cyprus

The new tax regime in Cyprus has been in effect since the beginning of the year, featuring an increased tax-free income threshold of €22,000 and enhanced tax deductions. However, tax declarations reflecting the new data will not be submitted until 2027, covering the 2026 tax year. For 2026, submissions will be made through the Unified Electronic System (Tax For All). This year, the 2025 tax declaration will be submitted using the old data (tax-free income of €19,500) and also through Tax For All, replacing taxisnet. In 2027, the obligation to file a declaration will apply to taxpayers with a gross income exceeding €22,000 and tax residents of Cyprus for more than 183 days. Additionally, it will be mandatory for individuals aged 25-71, with potential exemptions for certain categories by the Council of Ministers. The tax reform includes significant new personal deductions, depending on family status and income criteria, for children, students, rent, housing loans, and energy upgrades. These deductions primarily benefit families with incomes up to €100,000 (without children), €150,000 (3-4 children), and €200,000 (5+ children), as well as single individuals with incomes up to €40,000.
