Swiss Football Referees Choose Cyprus for Winter Training

The Swiss Football Association has chosen Cyprus for the winter training of its referees, marking a change of destination after 35 years. Approximately 100 referees are currently in Cyprus, including those from UEFA's Elite category who officiate top-tier competitions like the UEFA Champions League. This move strengthens Cyprus's position as a high-quality sports tourism destination, with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism having already hosted an official dinner in honor of the Swiss delegation. The attraction of the Swiss Association was facilitated by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism's Grant Scheme, which has been utilized by over 100 teams and federations in 2023. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, expressed his satisfaction with Cyprus being selected and emphasized the intention for long-term cooperation, as well as the importance of sports tourism to the Cypriot economy.
