The Supreme Court of Cyprus has increased the amount of compensation to be received by a soldier who was seriously injured during the explosion at the “Evangelos Florakis” naval base in 2011. The initial court decision was in favor of the soldier, but the Supreme Court amended it, increasing the general damages from €80,000 to €90,000, including loss of future earnings. The soldier suffered hearing damage and tinnitus in both ears, which are permanent. The case concerned a claim for damages for bodily harm, pain, suffering, loss of amenities, and loss of future income.
