Styalianos Case: Defendants Change Pleas, New Developments in Court

In the case of the suicide of 15-year-old Styalianos, which shocked Cyprus in 2019, changes are being observed in the positions of the defendants. Two defendants have changed their answers and are admitting to the charges they face, while a third person is considering admitting to part of their charges. The case returns to court on February 25th. The father of the minor plays a significant role in the case, with testimonies against him for physical violence. The indictment includes 218 charges, with the father and mother facing the most serious ones. Another nine individuals, officials of the Social Welfare Services, are accused of negligence of duty. Simultaneously, a police sergeant is accused in a separate proceeding of negligence of duty, as he allegedly knew about a previous suicide attempt by the minor.
