Strovolos Municipality Responds to Reports of €2 Million Debt

The Strovolos Municipality has responded to reports regarding a debt of over €2 million owed by a businessman. The Municipality states that the new Municipal Council, upon assuming office, found that the debt had not decreased but had increased despite negotiations and agreements made by the previous Mayor, Andreas Papaharalambous, without the Council's approval. The Strovolos Municipality declares that it is taking all necessary measures to collect the debts. Former Mayor Andreas Papaharalambous accused the current Mayor and the 'Alithia' newspaper of a coordinated effort to tarnish his name, arguing that the company was undergoing restructuring and that part of the debt had already been paid.
