Snowfall Continues in Troodos Mountains: Up to 10cm Expected

Snowfall continues in Troodos, but is expected to gradually subside in the coming hours. According to Michalis Mouskos, Senior Officer of the Cyprus Meteorological Service, the snow depth at the top of Troodos is currently between three and four centimeters, with the possibility of reaching ten centimeters. The rainfall over the weekend was significant, covering 31% of the expected amount for January. Mr. Mouskos stated that snowfall will continue intermittently until Tuesday evening, after which a temperature increase is expected. The snow cover is important for replenishing the aquifer, as it melts slowly and increases flows to the dams. The rainfall until Monday morning was particularly important, reaching 31% of the monthly volume, compared to 9% on Friday. The rainfall is moving from west to east, approaching Nicosia. At the same time, Mr. Mouskos expressed hope that the next few hours and tomorrow will bring additional precipitation. Drivers are urged to be careful due to dangerous roads in Troodos, with specific restrictions on the vehicles allowed to circulate.
