Snowfall Begins in Troodos Mountains - Muddy Rains and Isolated Storms Expected

Snowfall has begun to be recorded in the Troodos region on Tuesday afternoon, with snow accumulation expected at lower altitudes later in the evening. Simultaneously, a combination of rain, snow, and dense dust from Africa is anticipated. The Cyprus Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms, valid from 18:00 on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, until 08:00 on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. The rain and thunderstorms may be strong in places. The current disturbance is expected to move eastward tomorrow, Wednesday, however, rain and snow will continue to be observed on the highest peaks of Troodos, with improvement in the weather by the evening. The dust is also expected to subside. For Thursday and Friday, relatively low pressure is forecast, with increased cloud cover and local muddy rains, as a new dust transfer is expected. The temperature will rise slightly.
