Smart Meters: 220,000 Installed, 180,000 Remaining – What's Next from EAC

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is progressing faster than scheduled with the installation of smart meters across Cyprus. Over 220,000 meters have already been installed, while the initial target was 250,000 by June 2026. EAC is considering covering approximately 80% of consumers with smart systems, exceeding the initial goal of 400,000 meters by 2027. The first meters were installed on a pilot basis in areas of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos, with installation continuing gradually throughout Cyprus, with monthly updates on new areas. The installation process is accompanied by short power outages, not exceeding 20 minutes.
