Six Countries Issue Joint Statement Condemning US Attempt to Control Venezuela

Six Latin American countries (Spain, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay) have issued a joint statement condemning the United States' attempt to control Venezuela. These governments believe that the US actions are incompatible with international law, create a dangerous precedent for peace and regional security, and endanger the civilian population. They call for a resolution to the situation in Venezuela through dialogue and negotiations, without external interference, and reaffirm the need for regional unity. They also express concern over any attempt to externally appropriate Venezuela's natural resources.
