Sigma Poll: AKEL Remains Strong with High Cohesion and Prospects

The latest Sigma poll by Prime Consulting (March 16, 2026) shows AKEL remaining at the top with 17% (18% in valid votes), tied with DISY, but with significantly higher cohesion (69%) and lower dissatisfaction (69%) compared to other major parties. This comes during a period of intense disappointment (50%) and anger (15%) among citizens, with 71% expressing dissatisfaction with the Christodoulides government. AKEL is presented as a stable force, offering solutions to significant problems such as protecting primary residences from foreclosures, promoting a new development model, resolving the Cyprus issue based on the BBF, and tackling accuracy and corruption. General Secretary Stefanos Stefanou, with a 35% positive opinion, emphasizes the importance of a strong AKEL for the hope of the country. The poll reveals that 69% of citizens want a radical change in the party landscape and 68% are certain they will vote. AKEL positions itself as the solution, not part of the problem, promising a militant presence in Parliament to protect workers, youth, pensioners and the vulnerable. Overall, the poll shows that AKEL maintains the trust of citizens, offering a progressive way out of the crisis and a hope for social justice and stability. The May 2026 parliamentary elections are seen as an opportunity to strengthen the voice that truly cares about the people.
