Security Guarantees for Ukraine: France and Britain to Deploy Troops in Case of Peace Agreement

France and Britain have committed to deploying troops to Ukraine if a peace agreement is reached, as a security guarantee for Kyiv. This declaration was signed in Paris by the leaders of France, Britain, and Ukraine, marking a significant step towards a "stable and lasting peace," according to French President Emmanuel Macron. The agreement includes the creation of a "coordination core" to integrate armed forces and coordinate between the "Coalition of the Willing," the United States, and Ukraine. These security guarantees aim to prevent a potential forced surrender of Ukraine and ensure that any peace agreement is upheld. The establishment of a multinational force in the air, sea, and land, away from the contact line, is part of the plan to provide security assurances following a ceasefire. President Zelenskyy stated that allies have determined how a European deterrent force will operate in Ukraine after the ceasefire and which countries will participate. He also mentioned specific discussions with the United States regarding the monitoring of the ceasefire and expressed hope for the rapid signing of security guarantees. British Prime Minister Starmer referred to the creation of "military hubs" between France and the United Kingdom, indicating readiness to deploy military personnel to secure Ukrainian territory. This agreement represents a significant development in the effort to provide strong security guarantees to Ukraine, with the participation of 35 countries of the "Coalition of the Willing," the United States, and Ukraine itself.
