Seasonal Infections in Cyprus: Situation Under Control, but Vigilance Advised

The epidemiological situation in Cyprus regarding seasonal infections is described as expected and not alarming by the Ministry of Health and the Cyprus Public Health Institute (OKYpY). Vaccination coverage for the flu exceeds 55%, considered a satisfactory rate, although the vaccine does not cover 100% of circulating strains. In addition to the flu (mainly strain A), cases of RSV and COVID-19 are also being observed. Despite the expected increase in cases due to increased social contact, authorities recommend adherence to individual protection measures, such as frequent handwashing, good ventilation, and avoiding contact with vulnerable individuals when symptomatic. They also encourage those not vaccinated to get vaccinated against the flu and COVID-19.
