Search for MH370 Resumes 10 Years After Disappearance

A new search operation for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 is set to begin tomorrow, December 30, 2025, more than ten years after the aircraft was lost with 239 people on board. The search, conducted by Ocean Infinity, was previously suspended in April due to bad weather conditions. The new search will last 55 days and cover a sea area of 15,000 square kilometers, considered to have the highest probability of locating the aircraft. Ocean Infinity will only be paid if wreckage is found, with an agreed amount of $70 million. Flight MH370 deviated from its course and disappeared from radar while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014. It was carrying 12 crew members and 227 passengers, mostly Chinese nationals. Despite extensive underwater searches carried out by Australia, Malaysia, and China, the aircraft has not been located. Wreckage that has been found on the coasts of Africa and on islands in the Indian Ocean has been confirmed to be from the aircraft. In 2018, an official Malaysian investigation concluded that the aircraft was turned manually in the air and that 'third-party interference' could not be ruled out. The families of the victims continue to seek answers to the tragedy.
