Schools in Larnaca Overcrowded – New Buildings Urgently Needed

The President of the Federation of Parents and Guardians of Larnaca, Kostas Kosta, emphasized the urgent need for the construction of new schools in Larnaca due to the overcrowding in eight schools (four Gymnasiums and four Lyceums) with occupancy rates reaching up to 170%. He also highlighted the need for the immediate completion of the installation of air conditioning in classrooms, as there are problems with outdated electrical installations. Mr. Kosta stated that the Ministry of Education has been informed about the number of students who will continue in Gymnasium and Lyceum and requested a specific timetable for the construction of new schools. He also expressed concern about the lack of progress in the installation of closed-circuit television and stressed the importance of preventing delinquency in schools.
