Sarah Mullally Sworn In as First Female Head of the Church of England

Sarah Mullally was sworn in today as Archbishop of Canterbury, in a historic ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral in London, becoming the first woman to lead the Church of England. The swearing-in marks her assumption of duties as spiritual leader of 85 million Christians in 165 countries. She replaces Justin Welby, who resigned due to his handling of a sexual abuse scandal. Mullally's appointment has drawn criticism from conservative factions who oppose the ordination of women and hold differing views on LGBTQ+ issues. She will be enthroned at Canterbury Cathedral in March.
