Russian National's Expulsion Upheld by Administrative Court

The Administrative Court has upheld the decision to deport a Russian national who entered the Republic illegally through the occupied territories. The man was arrested at the Ledra Street checkpoint, as an international arrest warrant had been issued against him by Russian authorities for terrorism-related offenses. He initially filed for international protection, which was rejected, and detention and deportation orders were subsequently issued. The court dismissed his appeal, ruling that the subsequent application for international protection did not grant him the right to remain and that he had not proven he would face torture or inhumane treatment in his home country. The Legal Service states that the decision is in line with case law.
