Russia: Rosatom Suspends Work at Bushehr Nuclear Plant in Iran

Russian state nuclear energy company Rosatom announced that it has suspended construction work on the new units of the Iranian nuclear power plant in the port city of Bushehr, due to the US-Israeli air strikes on Iran. Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev warned of the threat posed by the attacks near Iranian nuclear facilities, noting that explosions were heard just kilometers away from the plant. Although the plant itself was not targeted, Rosatom halted work on units 2 and 3. Approximately 639 Russian employees remain in Iran, while some have been evacuated, and the company is considering further evacuations depending on the situation. Rosatom is committed to continuing to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of the facility.
