Russia Intensifies Attacks on Ukraine, Leaving Millions Without Power

Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine, causing widespread power and heating outages. Approximately 1.2 million people were left without electricity, and 6,000 buildings in Kyiv were without heating, with temperatures dropping to -13 degrees Celsius. In Kyiv, one person was killed and four injured, while Kharkiv reported 19 injuries from drone strikes. Hundreds of thousands in the Chernihiv region were also left without power due to damage to an energy facility. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Russia used 357 drones and 21 missiles in the attack. Local authorities also reported injuries in the Kyiv region. President Zelenskyy has urged the US to expedite the delivery of air defense systems, emphasizing that the agreements made in Davos must be fully implemented. This call comes after meetings with Donald Trump, where strengthening Ukraine's air defense was discussed. Concurrently, Ukraine accused Putin of ordering the attack while peace talks were underway in Abu Dhabi, labeling it a cynical and barbaric act.
