Russia Bans Gasoline Exports Amid Middle East Crisis

Russia announced a ban on gasoline exports from April 1st to July 31st, in response to disruptions in the global oil market caused by the crisis in the Middle East. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated that the decision aims to stabilize prices, given the high demand for Russian energy resources. Russia has already faced gasoline shortages in some regions and in Ukraine, due to Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries and seasonal demand increases. The country has periodically imposed restrictions on fuel exports to curb rising prices and address shortages. Last year, Russia exported approximately 5 million metric tons of gasoline, or about 117,000 barrels per day. The government assures that the volume of crude oil being processed remains stable, ensuring the supply of petroleum products.
