Rubio: We Did Not Seek Removal of Cuban President

The head of US diplomacy, Marco Rubio, denied a New York Times report stating that Washington demanded Cuba remove President Miguel Díaz-Canel. Mr. Rubio called the report “false” and accused the media of relying on inaccurate information. According to the report, the US had proposed removing President Díaz-Canel as a condition for structural reforms in Cuba. Mr. Rubio also deemed the measures announced by Cuba to attract investment from the diaspora insufficient. Mr. Rubio is known for his strong criticism of the Cuban government.
