RIA: Russian Troops Capture Village in Eastern Ukraine

Russian forces have taken control of the village of Karpivka in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, according to a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry, reported by the state news agency RIA. Separately, TASS reported that Ukrainian drones attempted to attack production facilities in the city of Almetyevsk, in the Tatarstan region of Russia, but defense systems were operating at an enhanced level. The capture of Karpivka marks a new development in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, while the drone attacks show an escalation of hostilities and Ukraine's attempt to hit targets deep within Russian territory.
