Rescue Operation Underway for Eight Mountaineers on Mount Taygetus

A rescue operation is underway for eight mountaineers on Mount Taygetus, near the peak of “Prophet Elias”, at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. Four mountaineers are injured and require air transport, however, the attempt to approach by helicopter failed due to strong winds. Ground forces, consisting of 41 firefighters and specialized rescue teams, have been mobilized for their rescue. The operation involves the 1st and 6th EMAD, the 9th EMODE, and the IKAROS team with drones, while a helicopter from EKSED has also been allocated.
