Representatives from 14 Institutions, Organizations, and Countries to Attend Cypriot Presidency Inauguration

The inauguration ceremony of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU will take place in Nicosia on Wednesday, January 7th. Representatives from 14 European institutions, organizations, and countries are expected to attend, along with high-ranking officials such as the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Presidents of Ukraine, Moldova, Lebanon, and Iraq. Furthermore, the Secretary-Generals of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the League of Arab States, as well as delegations from other neighboring countries, will participate. The presence of these representatives highlights Cyprus's role as a bridge between the European Union and the countries of the region. The ceremony will showcase the history and culture of Cyprus, as well as its strong ties with the EU, culminating in its accession to the Union in 2004. The aim is to emphasize Cyprus's journey within the European family, based on European principles and values, with a focus on peace and stability. In addition, bilateral meetings will be held between the delegations and the Cypriot Presidency, and the President of the Republic will host a formal dinner for the heads of delegations. The Spokesperson of the Cypriot Presidency, Stella Michael, stated that rehearsals are taking place daily to ensure the smooth running of the ceremony.
