Renowned Journalist Spyros Karatzasferis Passes Away

Journalist and publisher Spyros Karatzasferis passed away on Thursday evening. The news was announced by his brother, Giorgos Karatzasferis, who expressed his deep sorrow over the loss. Giorgos Karatzasferis emphasized his brother's significant contribution to journalism, describing him as one of the leading reporters of the last 60 years. Spyros Karatzasferis was born in Arcadia in 1938 and grew up in Palaio Faliro. He graduated from the 'Omirou' School of Journalism and began his career in 1959 at the 'Vradyni' newspaper, covering crime reporting. He continued his journalistic career at major newspapers such as 'Ethnos', 'Apogevmatini', and 'Eleftherotypia', where he distinguished himself for his investigative and revealing journalism, particularly during the Metapolitefsi era. His revelations provoked political reactions and led to legal disputes. After leaving 'Eleftherotypia', he worked as director and editor-in-chief at the 'Epikairotita' newspaper and founded the newspapers '48 Hours' and 'Sfina', as well as the magazine 'Amynthika Themata'. He also worked in various television and radio media.
