Renowned Actress Sofia Lappou Passes Away

Actress Sofia Lappou has passed away, leaving the artistic community in mourning. Lappou was an iconic figure at the National Theatre of Northern Greece (NTNG), where she worked from 1962 to 2011, participating in numerous performances and collaborating with prominent directors. She was the wife of actor Dionysis Kalos. Her contribution to the theatre was recognized with an honorary distinction from the Municipality of Thessaloniki, where she was named “Woman of Culture”. She studied at the Higher Drama School of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, as well as Political and Economic Sciences at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and at the Hellenic Open University. In addition to her artistic activity, Sofia Lappou was also an educator, teaching at the NTNG Drama School for 17 years and as Director of the 'Thymeli' Higher Theatre School. She also taught Acting and Speech Training at the Melodramatic School of the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and at the Rodidi Higher Theatre School. Lappou also participated in the editorial team of the 'Cosmos' Encyclopedia, demonstrating the wide range of her interests. The NTNG expressed its deep sorrow for the loss, emphasizing the actress's dedication and integrity.
