Putin: "What is Happening in Greenland Does Not Concern Us at All"

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia has no interest in owning Greenland, leaving the matter to be settled between the United States and Denmark. He commented that Denmark has treated Greenland as a colony and that Russia has a precedent in selling territories, such as Alaska to the US in 1867. He estimated that the purchase of Greenland by the US could cost around $1 billion, implying that Washington has the financial capacity to do so. Putin made these statements after Donald Trump backed down from his threats to impose tariffs on Denmark in order to acquire Greenland.
