President: "We will always be part of the solution" at Nikos Violaris' funeral

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, emphasized at the funeral of missing soldier Nikos Violaris that Cyprus "will not be part of the problem, but will always be part of the solution." The crisis in the region, he stated, confirms the volatility and danger of frozen conflicts, stressing the need for liberation, resolution of the Cyprus issue, and the end of occupation for a safe and prosperous future. The President referred to the personal history of Nikos Violaris, an 18-year-old soldier who went missing during the Turkish invasion in 1974, and expressed the state's commitment to honor his sacrifice and vindicate his memory. He emphasized that Violaris' remains were found in a mass grave and will rest at the Makedonitissa Tomb. Furthermore, President Christodoulides acknowledged the anguish of the families of the missing, noting that only 589 missing persons have been identified to date, while the search for the remaining ones continues. The President's speech was an expression of respect for Nikos Violaris and a reaffirmation of Cyprus' commitment to resolving the Cyprus issue and addressing the consequences of the Turkish invasion.
