President says his 5-point proposal concerns the essence of the Cyprus issue and CBMs

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, presented a five-point plan for restarting negotiations on the Cyprus issue, focusing on confirming the basis for a solution, recording convergences, convening an official conference, resuming talks, and opening four new crossing points. The plan includes recognizing political equality and UN Security Council resolutions as the basis for a solution. President Christodoulides stated he was not disappointed by the meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman and the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, and that he is ready to announce unilateral measures in favor of Turkish Cypriots at an official conference. A meeting between the negotiators of both sides within two weeks was also proposed.
