President of the House Wishes 'Good Illumination and Redemption' from Ayia Napa

The President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, wished 'Good Illumination and redemption for our homeland' from Ayia Napa, after the blessing of the waters. Ms. Demetriou expressed her satisfaction with her presence at the ceremony and thanked the Mayor of Ayia Napa for the invitation. Regarding the case involving MP Nikos Sykas, the President of the House replied briefly that 'I have nothing else to say beyond my position. Good Illumination today and the rest, God willing, we will see tomorrow.' The Metropolitan of Constantia and Ammochostos, Basil, also wished 'many happy years' to the Cypriot people and expressed hope for the renewal and redemption of Cyprus, as well as the opportunity to perform the Epiphany service in occupied Famagusta. During the ceremony, an unforeseen incident occurred as the gold cross thrown into the sea was not immediately found, resulting in wooden crosses being thrown in afterwards. The Metropolitan commented that 'divine things always have paradoxes within them,' while the Mayor of Ayia Napa thanked the participants and expressed a wish for the reunification of Cyprus in 2026.
