President of Cyprus Meets with Italian President to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, conducted an official visit to Rome and met with the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella. During the meeting, the close friendship and shared cultural identity between Cyprus and Italy were emphasized. President Christodoulides referred to Cyprus's assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU and the desire to coordinate with Italy for a more autonomous and open Union. He also expressed a desire to upgrade bilateral relations to a strategic level, which was also discussed with Prime Minister Meloni. The visit culminated in the inauguration of an archaeological exhibition highlighting the common culture of Cyprus and Italy, underlining the long-standing ties between the two countries. President Mattarella's visit to Cyprus two years ago was the first in history by an Italian President.
