President of Cyprus Doesn't Rule Out Discussion on British Bases

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, stated that he does not exclude the possibility of discussing the status of the British Bases in Cyprus, responding to a question about whether Nicosia would open the issue after the end of the current crisis. This statement follows similar inquiries addressed to the Government Spokesperson and the Minister of Foreign Affairs. President Christodoulides also mentioned a meeting with the head of British Intelligence, where views were exchanged on developments in the region. He did not provide further details about the content of the discussion. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring developments in cooperation with its partners in the European Union and other countries in the region, and that the entire state mechanism is on alert. He called on the Cypriot people to remain calm and rational, while adhering to government announcements and protective measures that may be activated. Furthermore, President Christodoulides assured that Cyprus will not be involved in offensive or military operations and will continue to be part of the solution, reiterating the country's commitment to peace and stability.
