President of Cyprus: Development of 'Cronus' Gas Field in Final Stage

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, met with ENI representative Guido Brusco to discuss the final stage of development of the 'Cronus' gas field. The goal is to begin sending Cypriot natural gas to Europe by the end of March, coinciding with the President's trip to Egypt to participate in the Cairo Energy Forum, where he hopes the President of the European Commission will also attend. The development of 'Cronus' represents the first from the plots in Cyprus' EEZ and is considered important for the country's economy and people. Mr. Christodoulides emphasized the importance of political will to complete the work and achieve the goal of sending natural gas to Europe. ENI has already invested $1.2 billion in Cyprus, and the agreement between Cyprus, Egypt, ENI, and TOTAL is considered crucial to the project's success. Discussions with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum have already begun, and the Cypriot side is ready to proceed. Cyprus's participation in the Cairo Energy Forum is expected to further boost this effort. Overall, the meeting with ENI confirmed that the project is on track and that Cyprus is ready to play a significant role in Europe's energy security.
