President Christodoulides Presents Eight Proposals at EU Informal Summit

President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, described the informal EU Summit in Alden-Biesen as one of the most important councils of the Union, emphasizing that he is attending with eight specific proposals to strengthen the EU's competitiveness. President Christodoulides stated that the Republic of Cyprus participated in the joint letter of 22 member states that led to the convening of the Summit, and that the Government is prioritizing legislative and other files related to competitiveness. He expressed hope that the Summit will lead to specific decisions with timelines, as happened in the previous informal Summit on defense and security. In addition, President Christodoulides will meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to be briefed on his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, while Mediterranean EU member states will discuss a common approach to the upcoming invitation from the American President.
