President Christodoulides Preparing Two Measures to Benefit Turkish Cypriots

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, is prepared to announce two unilateral measures to benefit Turkish Cypriots, focusing on healthcare and the economy. However, he has first requested the positive stance of the Turkish Cypriot leader, Erhurman, seeking to avoid any tension between them. The President's effort is to build a personal relationship with Erhurman, and therefore he is awaiting his agreement before proceeding with the announcements. At the same time, the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, Maria Angela Holguin, is expected to visit Cyprus by the end of the month, having previously held contacts in Geneva, Brussels, and Washington. President Christodoulides has accepted Ms. Holguin's request for a meeting and has proposed a new joint meeting with Erhurman, but has not yet received a response.
