President Christodoulides Announces Increased Benefits for National Guard Personnel

The Council of Ministers is expected to make significant decisions regarding the strengthening of the National Guard. President Christodoulides announced an increase in the service limit for contract soldiers from 42 to 57 years, as well as an increase in the recruitment age limit from 27 to 35 years. In addition, a merit-based process is being established for the evolution of SYOPs into Contract NCOs through written examinations, with the possibility of rising to the rank of Sergeant. Finally, the special monthly allowance for SYOPs is increased from 100 to 150 euros and from 200 to 250 euros for those serving in special units such as LOK and OUK. These decisions are possible due to the economic development and the responsible economic policy being followed, allowing investments in areas such as defense and security.
