Powerful Earthquake Strikes Mexico: Two Dead, Damage Reported

A powerful 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Mexico on Friday, causing at least two deaths and significant damage. The quake, which occurred near the Pacific coast in Guerrero state, damaged roads, hospitals, and homes. Videos showed the Angel of Independence in Mexico City swaying violently. Seismic activity continued with 546 aftershocks, the strongest of which was 4.7 magnitude. President Claudia Sheinbaum temporarily suspended a press conference due to the earthquake, but later stated there was no serious damage in the capital. However, a death from an accident and 12 injuries were later reported in Mexico City, while around 50 homes were destroyed in San Marcos.
