Poll: Israelis Largely Support Participation in Strike on Iran

A vast majority of Israelis support Israel's participation in a potential US strike against Iran, according to a poll by the 'Maariv' newspaper. However, opinions differ depending on the political camp, with supporters of the government more likely to support such a move than opposition voters. According to the poll, 70% of Israelis support Israel's participation in an attack on Iran, with 44% believing it should only be done if Iran attacks or prepares to attack Israel, and 26% believing it should be done in any case. 19% prefer Israel to leave the matter exclusively to the Americans. Voters for the governing coalition are more likely to support an immediate attack, while opposition voters are more reserved. At the same time, the Israeli public is divided regarding the fear of personal harm from a new military conflict with Iran. According to reports, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked US President Donald Trump to delay a scheduled military strike against Iran, due to concerns about the state of Israel's air defense systems.
