Στον διορισμό του Θεόδωρου Λεμονιάτη στη θέση του Διοικητή Πολιτικής Άμυνας προχώρησε η Επιτροπή Δημόσιας Υπηρεσίας, έπειτα από σύσταση της αρμόδιας αρχής.
Ο διορισμός είναι αναπληρωτικός και έχει διάρκεια τριών ετών, από τις 26 Μαρτίου 2026 μέχρι τις 25 Μαρτίου 2029.
Στη θέση αυτή διαδέχεται τη Μαρία Παπά, η οποία διετέλεσε Διοικήτρια της Πολιτικής Άμυνας από τον Απρίλιο του 2021. Η κ. Παπά αποχωρεί κατόπιν απόσπασής της στην Ελεγκτική Υπηρεσία, έχοντας προηγουμένως καταγράψει σημαντική εμπειρία σε θέματα δημόσιας διοίκησης και εσωτερικού ελέγχου.
Ο διορισμός του Θεόδωρου Λεμονιάτη πραγματοποιείται σε μια περίοδο αυξημένων προκλήσεων για την Πολιτική Άμυνα, με έμφαση στην ετοιμότητα και την αποτελεσματική διαχείριση κρίσεων.

Political Defense: This is the new commander in place of Maria Papa
The Public Service Commission appointed Theodoros Lemoniatis as the Commander of Civil Defense, following a recommendation from the competent authority. The appointment is substitute and lasts for three years, from March 26, 2026 to March 25, 2029. Mr. Lemoniatis succeeds Maria Papa, who served as Commander of Civil Defense from April 2021. Ms. Papa is leaving due to her transfer to the Audit Office, having gained significant experience in public administration and internal control. The appointment of Mr. Lemoniatis takes place during a period of increased challenges for Civil Defense, with an emphasis on preparedness and effective crisis management. Civil Defense is responsible for coordinating actions to protect the civilian population in the event of natural disasters or other crises.
