Police Warn Against Illegal Electric Bikes on Roads

The Cyprus Police have intensified controls to address the issue of illegal electric bikes on the roads. According to legislation, electric bikes allowed to circulate must have a maximum speed of 25 km/h or a maximum power of 0.25 kW. Those that do not meet these requirements are confiscated by the Police. The increasing use of illegal electric bikes increases the risk of road accidents with serious or fatal injuries. Checks are carried out throughout the road network, with the exception of highways and expressways, where their circulation is expressly prohibited. The Police urge citizens to comply with the laws for the safety of all road users.
