Police Continue Protest Outside Parliament Over Working Hours and Conditions

Published January 5, 2026, 07:28

Police officers are continuing their protests outside Parliament, demonstrating against their working hours and conditions. Nikos Loizidis, a representative of “ISOTITA”, denounces pressures and interventions to prevent the issue from being discussed in the Legal Committee, while accusing the Chief of Police and the Minister of Justice of attempting to prevent the meeting. Police officers are protesting against unilateral changes to schedules, which increase their working time by 15 days per year and reduce rest time. Additionally, they report a climate of intimidation and question the operational situation, arguing that decisions are made hastily and without dialogue. The protest will be held off-duty and in civilian clothes, with the possibility of escalating measures.
