Pickaxe Mountain: Iran's Secret Nuclear Bunker and the Risk of War

Iran's secret nuclear bunker, codenamed “Pickaxe Mountain,” is located near Natanz at a depth of over 100 meters, making it extremely resistant to attack. Analysts warn that neutralizing this bunker may be the “key” to ending the war, but it may require the deployment of special forces on the ground. Despite air strikes, Tehran has managed to re-fortify its bases. Iran possesses over 400 kilograms of enriched uranium at a level approaching 60%, sufficient to build at least 11 nuclear bombs with minimal further processing. A new enrichment facility has been under construction at “Pickaxe Mountain” since 2020, near the Natanz facility. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has faced difficulties in accessing information about the work at this location. Due to the resilience of Iran's nuclear program to air strikes, the deployment of ground forces appears to be the only definitive solution. Donald Trump has not ruled out such an operation in the future.
