Pension Cuts Taken Off the Table

The possibility of reducing high pensions, which had been proposed as a way to fund increased support for low-income pensioners, appears to be off the table following widespread criticism. All social partners in the Labour Advisory Body expressed their opposition to such a solution, sending a clear message to the government. The Minister of Labour, Marinos Mousiouttas, stated that a 2-5% reduction in pensions for 5-10% of pensioners was one of the options considered, but the Ministry's view is that this scenario should be discarded and other ways to solve the problem should be found. The issue is now considered closed.
