Patriarchate Rejects Tychikos' Appeal Again

The Ecumenical Patriarchate has rejected the second appeal filed by Bishop Tychikos, concerning the decision of the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus to suspend him. The rejection was communicated to the Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus by the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Christakis Eustathiou, Spokesperson of the Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus, stated that the Synod is now focusing on restructuring the statute and electing a new Metropolitan of Paphos. Bishop Tychikos had submitted a new appeal at the end of January, challenging the initial decision of the Holy Synod. The Church of Cyprus had previously commented that this action was contradictory, given that Tychikos had not accepted the initial decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and had attempted to challenge it through the courts. Mr. Eustathiou mentioned that the Holy Synod does not intend to engage further with Tychikos' actions, implying that he may be guided by third parties. The rejection of the appeal was published in the newspaper Philenews. The case of Bishop Tychikos continues to be at the forefront, with the Church of Cyprus seeking to proceed with reorganization and the election of a new Metropolitan, despite Tychikos' attempts to challenge the decisions.
