Patient Aeromedically Evacuated from Ship South of Limassol

A patient was aeromedically evacuated from a ship sailing 125 nautical miles south of Limassol, following the activation of the National Plan E-D NEARCHOS. The operation took place on January 23, 2026, at 02:15 in the morning. A helicopter from the Air Operations Unit of the Police, with a specialized nurse from the Ambulance Service of the OKYpY, participated in the aeromedical evacuation operation. The patient was transported to the General Hospital of Nicosia at 08:30, where he was hospitalized for further care. This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the National Plan E-D NEARCHOS in providing immediate medical assistance in remote maritime areas.
