Passengers Arrested at Larnaca Airport with Duty-Free Tobacco

Three passengers were arrested at Larnaca Airport with a large quantity of duty-free tobacco products in their luggage. Customs officials, following an assessment of information, checked the luggage of passengers destined for the United Kingdom and found 210 packs of cigarettes without the necessary health warnings in Greek and Turkish. The passengers were arrested for immediate offenses, but were released after agreeing to pay an out-of-court fine totaling €1,600. The luggage was confiscated by the authorities.
