Paphos Municipality: Senior Official Vindicated - Had Accused Faidon of Violence

A senior official of the Paphos Municipality has been vindicated by the Court and has returned to her duties, after being dismissed in May 2024. The Court’s decision upheld the official’s appeal, who had accused the suspended Mayor, Faidon Faidon, of violence. A decisive role in the outcome of the case was played by the presence of the Paphos Municipality’s Legal Counsel at the Municipal Council meeting as a recorder, following a decision by the Mayor. The Court ruled that the presence of a non-municipal employee at meetings for the purpose of keeping minutes is not provided for by law. The official had accused the Mayor and the former Municipal Secretary of workplace bullying, psychological violence, and physical violence, as well as possible criminal acts and corruption. These complaints were never investigated by the Municipal Council. The Court ruled that not only a strained working relationship was found between the official and the two officials, but also that her complaints were never substantively examined. As a result, the official was vindicated and will receive the wages she lost during her dismissal.
