The services of the Paphos Municipality are on high alert due to the yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms valid from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday morning. The Meteorological Service forecasts rain and isolated thunderstorms, with the possibility of hail and strong winds, while the intensity of the rain may reach 35-55 millimeters per hour. Deputy Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, stated that the crews are on standby to intervene immediately where necessary. Particular emphasis has been placed on areas that have experienced problems in the past, and checks have been carried out on manholes and streams. The Municipality's priority is the safety of citizens and the prevention of damage to infrastructure and property. Mr. Onisiforou stressed the importance of preparedness and rapid response to potential problems caused by extreme weather events. The Municipality calls on the public to be careful, avoid unnecessary movements during the bad weather and follow the instructions of the competent authorities.
