Ozel Defends Erdogan Against Allegations of Abduction Scenarios

The leader of Turkey's main opposition party (CHP), Ozgur Ozel, publicly defended Recep Tayyip Erdogan against "abduction" scenarios proposed by Greek political commentator Faios Kranidiotis, despite being in political opposition to him. Ozel described Kranidiotis as "ignorant and arrogant" and emphasized that any attempt to arrest or remove the Turkish president is unthinkable. He stressed that Turkey would resist any such action, emphasizing that the popular will must not be undermined. Ozel reiterated that political differences must be resolved through the ballot box and not through threats or external interference. To strengthen his argument, Ozel referred to historical examples, such as Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's attitude towards Greek General Trikoupis, showcasing Turkey's tradition of political courtesy and state self-confidence. His aim was to demonstrate that Turkey can manage its political differences with dignity and respect for institutions. Overall, Ozel's statement aims to prevent any discussion that could be seen as a threat to the institutional security of President Erdogan, sending a strong message both domestically and internationally that the CHP will not allow the questioning of elected power through non-democratic means.
