An investigation is underway in Larnaca following the death of a 78-year-old and the hospitalization of four other people, who developed symptoms after consuming water from a water cooler. Police are taking statements from people who were at the house during the incident to determine the circumstances. The results of the tests being carried out at the State Chemistry are expected within the week and are considered crucial to the case. So far, the investigation has not identified any other people who have consumed water from the same cooler, other than those already hospitalized. Authorities are considering all possible causes, but based on initial data, no criminal activity has emerged. However, they emphasize that the case is delicate and requires careful evaluation. Police clarify that without the results of the Chemistry, no possibility can be ruled out. Due to the seriousness of the case, efforts are being made to expedite the testing process, despite the intervening holiday. Also, no other reports of similar incidents have been recorded so far. Regarding the possibility of assistance from specialized experts from abroad, the Police state that such a need has not arisen at this time. However, seeking help from other agencies is not excluded if it is deemed necessary for a more specialized investigation. If no new evidence emerges from the Chemistry, no official update is expected tomorrow.
